Peter Abichaker【謝克】endeavors to create a monumental cross-cultural pop music moment with the simultaneous English & Mandarin release of his new single/music video - ‘Audition’ !

 

As a queer Lebanese American growing up in Boston while navigating the turbulent experience of coming out, Peter found escape and identity expression through the magical sounds of Asian pop music from the early 2000s. ‘Audition’ is an epic retro modern remake of Lee Jung Hyun’s international hit ‘Wa’ – a song that took Korea, China, & Taiwan by storm 25 years ago.

 

The music video, featuring Drag Race superstar Kim Chi, fuses Arabic & East Asian aesthetics to create a mystically alluring multicultural visual that boldly embodies queer art & expression. Coupled with the song’s uniquely refreshing sound of synthpop energized by traditional Chinese strings and Middle Eastern drums - the release not only reignites the fire of music that set the groundwork for modern K-pop, but also introduces a reinvigorated celebration of it across audiences old, new, east & west.

 

Peter’s music has been described as that which “touches and awakens something beautiful within us” by leading LGBTQ news & entertainment website Queerty.com and his voice has been described as "magnetic" by NowNews Taiwan.
